Automotive Backup Cameras with High Dynamic Range

One of the major challenges for camera designers is dealing with the very large dynamic range to which the camera is exposed—from bright sunshine to night darkness. The camera must give a full representation of the scene behind the vehicle to the operator regardless of lighting conditions.

Forza Silicon, working with a leading industry backup camera manufacturer, developed and implemented a unique High Dynamic Range (HDR) pixel design for this application. Several million of these CMOS-based cameras are already in service around the globe, enhancing safety for families and pedestrians. One key capability for backup cameras offered by Forza is a patented in-pixel HDR capability.
